The True Sheriff gives us a Wild West story, and best of all it comes in the style in which Betsoft usually creates slot machines. It’s a Slots3 game, which means that you’re getting a great package which combines superb graphics, animated characters and plenty of interesting features. This Wild West game delivers a decent number of lines, 30 of them at most, and with the right wagers you could be looking at maximum payouts of up to $15,000. A number of bonus features are in place, with scatter symbols, with the Sheriff using his gun on symbols from the reels, with a Showdown Bonus between the hero and the villain, as well as free spins.
The betting numbers which are used are fairly normal for a slot machine, but the way that the options are designed is definitely different. The number of lines is modifiable, with up to 30 available to the player. The wager per line is the one that changes in a way that is different. You have four buttons which say ¼, ½, ¾ and MAX written on them, with predefined bets of $37.50, $75, $90 and $150. Alternatively, you can move the line position underneath, to fine tune the amount you use. Bets vary between $0.60 and $150 with all lines active.
A Wild West themed slot machine is nothing unusual these days, and you get dozens of options probably. As in other games of this type, the setting is in a dusty old town in the Wild West, the kind of place you would see in Western movies. You have the sheriff as an animated character, right next to the reels, though he is present on the reels as well. Other images shown in the game include some poker cards which have seen quite a bit of work done to them, as well as images of a lady, of a villain and of the sheriff’s deputy. Images of guns and sheriff’s badges are on the list of symbols as well, as the main features. As for the graphics which were selected for this game, they’re excellent, but that’s not unexpected for a slot machine that is designed by Betsoft. This developer made a habit out of releasing great games graphics wise, and The True Sheriff is no different. This even extends to the quality of the poker card icons, which they generally don’t use, but here they chose to include.
While you have some regular features as well present in the game, others are going to be triggered in a more unusual way, through multiple types of symbols that appear next to each other. It’s the case with The Gun symbol, which can trigger different features depending on the position it is in, or on the other symbols found next to it. If The Gun is on the 3rd reel, in any position, then you can expect a Wild Guns feature to start. The sheriff, which is next to the reels, will start shooting his gun at the reels, giving you up to five wilds from the positions that he hits. Once this is over, you’re going to get a respin of the reels and positions which were not affected. You can have these wilds help you out as substitutes, or you can get them to form their own combinations, and they will pay the best prizes of the slot. As most wilds are designed, these will also not be allowed to replace the Badge or Gun symbols. Another way to use The Gun icon is to have it appear in a position which is between The Sheriff and the Bad Guy. This needs to happen on one of the first three lines though. When the requirements are met, you get the Showdown Bonus from those symbols. This game is pretty simple, involving a Heads or Tails kind of action, to decide who the winner of the cinematic showdown that occurs is. The feature that is much more expected here is the one with free spins. The Badge is the symbol that gets you 10 to 15 free spins, plus a reward of up to 100 times your wager. The downside is that the scatters that give you free spins are needed on consecutive reels, from left to right.
The game has two different ways that it can give you a reward of 3,000x, which can mean up to $15,000 cash. You do need to wager the full amount possible though, in order to win that much from the scatter or the wild symbols. The game has an excellent average RTP, of just over 97%, which is above average for video slots and Wild West titles both. There aren’t that many games that go above this number, so The True Sheriff is an excellent choice in this one area.
The True Sheriff has that great design, a Wild West story that plenty of players will love, plus it offers a superb average Return to Player as well. I think that players have plenty of great reasons to try the game out.
