Immortal Romance

About

Immortal Romance takes on a subject that seems to be popular lately, that of the attractive vampires that will live forever, the focus of so many movies and books in the last couple of decades. The slot machine we have here comes via Microgaming, and you will find that it has a certain gothic influence to its design.

The game features the popular system with 243 ways to win, which will always use 5×3 reels as support. There are a number of cool features to trigger, among them being things like wilds with multipliers, bonus games with wild reels, free spins of about four different types and extra features for each one. The game can pay up to $9,000 during certain features which have multipliers, or up to $6,000 in the base game through the scatter icon.

Betting requirements

Immortal Romance is one of the games that you can form combinations on just by having matching symbols on reels that are next to each other, and starting from the left naturally. These are slots with ways to win, and there are 243 such possibilities to get paid each round in Immortal Romance. You use 30 coins or more each round. You can take the wager up to 300 coins if you want to, by increasing the line bet’s level from 1 to 10 coins. With coins having a relatively small value range, of just $0.01 to $0.10, you can spend at most $1 for one line and up to $30 for the entire game. It’s not a high maximum bet, and the lowest one is predictably at $0.30, so everyone should be able to give this game a chance.

Theme & Design

I can’t say that we’ve never seen model like vampires in slot machines before, they’ve been part of them often enough, but the game that Microgaming has created here has a certain quality that makes me like it more than I do most of their games, at least design wise. The theme has four main characters in it, two males and two females, most of them vampires apparently. The four even have their own stories, which you can read by accessing the Story buttons on the paytable. Some are humans with supernatural powers, others are vampire playboys, the usual stuff that you can expect to see in a vampire based TV series. The gothic element of the design is one of the things that sold the game to me, besides the quality of the four characters and of the other themed symbols.

Among the symbols we get the logo of Immortal Romance as the wild, the Lion Door Knocker as the scatter, images of castles or a pen and paper, and then there are the four main characters. Their names are Amber, Sarah, Troy and Michael, and they’re high paying symbols. The gothic style poker cards are last on the list.

Special Features

If there is one area where the game doesn’t seem to be lacking in options, it’s the feature section. The game starts you off with a wild symbol, the kind that not only substitutes for others and pays you prizes itself, but also doubles wins that it is used in as a replacement. You may use these wilds to replace regular symbols, doubling their wins in the process, but not scatters.

At random, while playing this game, you might get a Wild Desire, which is a feature which transforms up to 5 wild reels. You can’t get free spins at this point, but you can get a lot of very big payouts from those wilds.

The Chamber of Spins is the place where the game rewards you for playing it in the long run. The Door Knocker scatter, which can also pay 200x the bet of the spin, will trigger the feature for you. As you get access to the Chamber of Spins multiple times, you start to unlock additional types of free spins that you can then choose from.

Initially, you get just the Amber feature from it, which has 10 free spins where all the wins get a 5x multiplier. Once you’ve triggered the Chamber feature at least five times, you can get the Troy feature as well, which has 15 free spins and a Vampire Bats feature (randomly transforms regular symbols into 2x or 3x multipliers, up to 6x being the combined value possible). Starting with the 10th trigger of the Chamber, you get access to Michael, and his 20 free spins that give you higher multipliers with each consecutive win (up to 5x). The final feature is the one offered by Sarah, beginning with the 15th time you access the Chamber. Sarah has 25 free spins, with a feature called Wild Vine, which gives you additional wilds.

Jackpot

If you look at the highest amount you can win with the smallest number of symbols, then it would be the scatter’s payout, of up to $6,000, that offers the most. Regular combinations pay up to $1,500, with the chance to increase the amount to $9,000 if you’re using free spins.

The average RTP seems to be quite good in the case of Immortal Romance, sitting at 96.86% from what I could find out. It’s a good RTP to have in a game, particularly one that you enjoy.

Conclusion

If you’re into vampire themed slot machines, Immortal Romance should give you enough good reasons to play it. I would’ve wanted higher top payouts, since they give you something to aim for, but it’s still an interesting release from Microgaming.
