About

Boomanji is a Betsoft slot machine and a title which offers a fireworks theme. The focus is heavy on the explosive side of things, with the symbols using only images of fireworks, firecrackers and various other devices with fuses attached to them. They’re all colorful and beautifully packaged. It’s a theme that often pops up at various developers. Despite the modern design, the 5 reels offered here have only 10 active lines. An expanding wild symbol can be present as you play, though only on certain reels. It will trigger for you a free spin, but other than that, the game doesn’t have much to give you. Boomanji has a maximum top prize of only $1,250.

Betting requirements

With just 10 lines present, you can still play around with your bet settings quite a bit. For one, you have the coin value to modify, which is worth between $0.01 and $0.50. There is also the option to use fewer lines, and to pick up to 10 coins to use for each line. The maximum possible bet is at $5 per line, or $50 for all of them.

Theme & Design

The stars are the background for this game, and the action takes place at night naturally. It’s the time when you launch fireworks, when they’re most visible and fun to look at. You have the night sky full of stars in the background, while the reels have five columns filled with all types of bombs, fireworks and firecrackers. With names like Mega Boom, Turbo Bomb and Boom rockets, I think that I’m beginning to see a theme in the naming process. Some of those symbols look like rockets that you stick in the ground, others are more like round barrels that multiple rockets are supposed to shoot out of. They all have one thing in common, they have fuses that can be lit. As for the colors of those symbols, they come in blue, red, yellow, green and other colors. I think that you will enjoy the graphics in Boomanji, despite the fairly limited variety of symbols. It’s the sort of simple game that looks good simply because it’s a relatively new title and the graphics look modern. A lot of developers don’t manage to offer great designs in their slots, but Betsoft certainly doesn’t have this problem.

Special Features

I’ve mentioned it before, but this game doesn’t invest too much in the features, keeping the action simple. There are a total of seven regular symbols that can form combinations, on the 10 lines, and then there is the eighth symbol, which is the wild. The symbol acting as a wild has the image of a wooden box filled with the other firecrackers and fireworks. It’s a symbol that acts as an expanding wild, which means that you need it to appear in a single position on the reel. When this happens, the wild symbol expands and the entire reel is occupied by it. At that point, the wild may be used to take the place of a regular symbol. Wins can come to you when you have a mix of regular and wild symbols, or just regulars, on the same line and starting from the left side. A downside that I see with this wild is that only the middle reels can get it, so the ones from the columns 2, 3 and 4. There are upsides as well though, since the expanding wild is useful in more ways than usual. Once you get your initial wins from that round, the game will give you a free re-spin, where the expanding wild remains locked in place. Land additional wild symbols on the other reels, and you get new re-spins. This particular feature is responsible for the fact that no other features can be found, since it can give you so many spins for free during regular gameplay.

Jackpot

The payouts that are advertised on the paytable don’t amount to much, the largest one giving you back 250 times the line wager. It’s going to be a reward of up to 2,500 coins at best, with a value of $1,250. Boomanji is a game with a high volatility, which can end up paying a lot, or which can keep you on the edge of your seat for extended periods of time. In the long run, its RTP will be at about 95.96%, which is a good number.

Conclusion

Boomanji has its good sides, and some unusual but enjoyable features, so overall I think it could be a decent choice. I would’ve loved more variety in its design and choice of symbols, and more lines as well, but it’s still a good game.
